The Position:

  • We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Department of Antibody Engineering at Genentech as a Research Scientist.
  • The role will involve designing and conducting hands-on laboratory research as well as data processing and analysis.
  • A significant portion of efforts will involve the experimental characterization of antibodies in efforts to accelerate drug development with machine-learning.
  • The role will also involve close collaboration with computational groups in developing cutting edge in silico antibody design methods.


Responsibilities:

  • Use of advanced molecular biology techniques for protein production
  • Coordinate protein expression and purification with other teams at Genentech
  • Protein characterization using high-throughput screening platforms (ELISA, SPR, flow cytometry)
  • Data processing and storage in centralized databases


The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) or Master’s degree (MS) in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, related discipline
  • At least 2 years of research experience in protein biochemistry, protein engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency with molecular biology techniques
  • Proficiency in computer operations including scientific data analysis and database entry
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaborative setting
  • Research experience with antibody-based molecular engineering and relevant datatypes (e.g., surface plasmon resonance data and deep sequencing datasets) is desirable but notessential.

This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $30.47/hour-$40.62/hour
