Overview:
gRED Research Operations & Contracts (gROC) is a multi-disciplinary group at Genentech that focuses on removing barriers to enable pioneering science. Departments include Research Operations, Business & Resource Management, Training, and Contracts. The Business and Resource Management team supports gRED Research Biology and Drug Discovery leadership by ensuring that headcount resources are in alignment with the budget as well as portfolio tracking, and business process rollout as needed. Our data-driven approach enables leaders to have a comprehensive understanding of their current organization and where resources are deployed.
Your Role:
You will be joining the Research Business and Resource Management team to support a data visualization and metrics design initiative for gRED Research. This project will enable the business to become more data-driven and derive deeper insights from their data. The metrics hierarchy developed will serve as a foundation for future analytics projects throughout all departments. Organizational goals evolve over time, so you must be creative, adaptable, and willing to learn.
Responsibilities
● Collaborate with gROC departments to develop and implement a robust data strategy and architecture
● Partner with IT and other subject matter experts to develop foundational, robust, high quality, integrated data sets and metrics/KPIs to be used for visualization and advanced analytics
● Bridge business needs with technical development by supporting the development of the metrics/KPI hierarchy throughout Research and compiling a data directory of various databases
● Understand user requirements, underlying business processes, and source data to perform any required analysis and create powerful user-friendly reports
● Build and improve automated and ad hoc data visualizations and dashboards (Tableau, ThoughtSpot, etc.) to enable businesses to use data to maximize their value
● When relevant, collaborate with and/or lead a limited number of prioritized initiatives that align with and support Research’s organizational goals
Qualifications
Preferred Majors: Business degree - Computer Science, Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, Statistics, Math or Operations Research
Skills:
● Business acumen and ability to translate business needs into metrics
● Experience with consulting diverse teams
● Experience with data visualization (Tableau, ThoughtSpot etc.)
● Experience with developing and defining metrics/KPIs
● Experience with leveraging AI to identify actionable insights
● Proficient with organizing data collected from various sources
● Working knowledge with database, table design joins, data collection, data mining, data aggregation, data validation, data analytics etc.
● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites and/or Google Suites

This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $70.00/hour-$81.00/hour
