Contractor/Scientist 3, Immunology/B cell Biology

 

THE POSITION

The Yewdell Lab is seeking a highly creative and collaborative Contractor/Scientist 3 to join a dynamic research team investigating the role of B cells and antibodies in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases within the Department of Immunology Discovery at Genentech. The successful candidate will implement cutting edge technologies and methods in cellular immunology, molecular biology, genomics and genetically engineered mouse models to exciting research stage programs into early clinical development, as well as explore new areas of B cell biology ripe for target discovery. Excellent communication skills are essential to facilitate fruitful collaborations with colleagues across a diverse array of departments, including computational sciences, cellular and tissue genomics, translational medicine, early clinical development, and biomarker discovery.

 

Projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding the role of B cells and plasma cells in inflammatory bowel disease
  • Examining the capabilities of different targeting modalities (monoclonal antibodies,
  • bispecific antibodies, cellular therapies) to deplete various tissue B cell subtypes in
  • mouse models of autoimmunity (lupus, multiple sclerosis, IBD)
  • Designing and evaluating next-generation cellular therapies for the treatment of
  • autoimmune disease

 

WHO YOU ARE

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a PhD in immunology, or a field closely related to immunology (postdoctoral/post- PhD experience is a plus)
  • Have a demonstrated track record of experimental and intellectual prowess as evidenced by first or senior author publications in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals (preprints also considered)
  • Be well versed theoretically and practically in cellular and molecular immunology techniques including handling mice, performing primary cell isolation from mouse and/or human tissues, in vitro stimulation of hematopoietic/immune cells, advanced flow cytometry, and cell culture Be able to independently drive a project by designing and executing experiments, interpreting data, and making figures
  • Have exceptional critical thinking skills and an appreciation for rigorous, creative negative controls
  • Be excited to work in a highly collaborative, dynamic research group with a dedication to following the data wherever it may lead

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)

The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $39.11 - $52.14/hr
